A. You could try going with a tour group, like contiki. These types of holidays are good because they keep the cost down and provide you with an itinerary of things to do but still give you the freedom to venture off and explore new places on your own. Plus, you get to meet plenty of other people who are travelling on their own. I dont know how old you are but you need to keep in mind that Contiki only runs tours for people ages between 18-35. Can you earn hotel reward points or frequent flyer miles if you book your flight/hotel from a travel website?

If you book your hotel/flight at, say, travelocity.com, will you still be able to earn your frequent flyer miles (like Delta Sky Miles program) and hotel reward points (like the Choice Hotels program)? At a travel website there might be a better deal than on the hotel's/airline's website, so what do you do to still earn miles/points?

If it is part of a chain, they will use the chain's system. Otherwise, it will have to contract with a third-party system or keep records manually. Major websites link to the chain's reservation system, a third-party system such as Pegasus, or with a GDS system such as Sabre or Apollo. In some situations, there is no direct link. The website automatically faxes the hotel and the hotel manually enters the reservation into their records. (Strange, but true.) Have you spoken with the hotel?
