Oceania (sometimes Oceanica) is a geographical, and often geopolitical, region consisting of numerous lands—mostly islands in the Pacific Ocean and vicinity. The term "Oceania" was coined in 1831 by French explorer Dumont d'Urville. The term is also sometimes used to denote a continent comprising Australia Continent and proximate Pacific islands, and is one of eight terrestrial ecozones.

The boundaries of Oceania are defined in a number of ways. Most definitions include Australia, New Zealand and all or part of the Malay Archipelago. Ethnologically, the islands that are included in Oceania are divided into the subregions of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia.

In an interdimensional war between Oceania and the Holy Brittanian Empire, who would win?
Q. Let's just say that parrallel universes exist and there's two of them. One universe contains the world of 1984, by George Orwell, and Ocenia has reached its peak. The other universe contains the world of Code Geass where the Holy Britanian Empire has reached its peak. Not lets say String Theory is actually proven correct and one day, two of these "strings" collided causing a rip between the two universes and combining them into one. Which nation will win in an all out war?

A. ocenia sucks. they have primitive weapons and artilerries and that's it. they can't afford to advance cuz then ppl will wonder and get out of control. so HBE will win for sure.

Why are Australia, Oceania, and Antarctica in the same culture zone according to some maps?
Q. What do these places have in common (I can understand Australia and Oceania being in the same zone, but Antarctica..)?

A. All depends on what criteria the cartographer used. It seems odd that it would be culturally homogeneous, so thats the only thing I can think of.

is australia a country or a continent? what about oceania?
Q. me and my house mates are having a huge discussion on this theme. some websites, including Wikipedia, give different definitions according to the language it was written in. we all come from different countries and were taught different in school. so basically, some know Australia(just the big mass part) is a continent in its own and the only country to occupy one entirely, others say its just a country in the continent of Australia. did anyone out there actually do geographic studies and can sort this whole thing out?
